Poem: Feeling Lonely

Feeling lonely
Feeling worn
Soul restless and wartorn

Wanting company
Finding none
Finding no one
A door held open with a bow is a blessing
From a stranger I’ll never see again
I smile as I thank this brief friend

Days repeat the same routine
Everyday’s like a Monopoly game
There’s no one but myself to blame

I’ve had many chances
That I passed by
So much kindness, now it makes me cry

Undeserved adoration and forgiveness
Regrets are a self-made prison I carry
Old ghosts I can’t ever bury

Retrospect is genius
Blindspot’s my weakness
I should’ve embraced meekness

Gentleness as strength
But I chose my ego
I chose ignorance and sorrow

I miss my parents
I could’ve been a buffer
Instead I made them suffer

Worrying and praying over me
I punished them with distance
And stubborn resistance

I abused my intelligence
Always seeking to be right
But not every battle is worth the fight.
