You’ve poetically and astutely summed up what’s happened to society and culture the past 50 odd years.
Last night on YouTube there was a video of a speech Robert F. Kennedy Sr. delivered in South Africa in 1966 called The Ripple of Hope Speech.
After listening to it, I shared it on Facebook with the comment “Almost every single politician in the Western world today would disagree with the principles enunciated in this speech. Almost 60 years later, we’ve gone from a ripple of hope to tsunamis 🌊 of despair.”
Thank you, Christopher. I try to be positive but there are days when I feel the need to vent and complain.
Sounds like an inspirational speech, and unfortunately I can imagine that all politicians nowadays would take issue with the logic and truthfulness of it. The way both Kennedy brothers were sacrificed is detestable and the ongoing coverup it insulting to every American’s intelligence.
Philosophers of Education from John Dewey onwards have come up with ludicrous theories to ensure that every succeeding generation becomes progressively dumber.
I was especially sad that they stopped teaching cursive handwriting, it’s now a lost, expressive art. I guess people will sign with an illiterate X again.
Thanks, Crandew! Perhaps LOTR summed it up well, “one ring to rule them all and in the darkness bind them”. Dumb folks can quickly destroy themselves without even trying to, plus why do they need slave people anymore, when they can have robot slaves?
We are living in a technology driven age where AI is being embedded into all facets of life. Self checkout is an example of lessening human interaction. Stay blessed, my friend 🙏 🕊️
I agree, Sylvester. I think every aspect of being human is being erased; why make art, write, make music etc when AI can do it perfectly? People seem to like AI for it’s convenience but at what cost? Self-checkout is so ironic, stores make us to the work without getting paid, all to avoid a cashier’s line, (but there’s a self checkout line too). I usually chat with the cashier, they don’t want that human interaction I suppose.
It is up to us to keep writing, creating, etc. AI might look great but it is soulless.
I try to interact with the cashiers and other workers at the stores even if it’s just a friendly greeting.
Yes, I actually wonder about AI, some aspects seem demonic. Some AI have inspired romantic infatuation and suicide, it’s so strange how that could wven happen.
I like interacting with actual people too; we all need to stay social, that’s a very human need.

I was actually thinking the same thing myself right after I posted the above comment.

Awesome!
It is all a distraction and no doubt about control.
I think the key is to find their goal, because I’m pretty sure there is one. One solid goal to top everything they’ve already done.

Exactly! Kubrick knew the inevitable result. The voice of Hal is so ironically calm, like a psycho.

No feelings, no emotion, just a cold and calculating algorithm.
