Poem: I’m a Messenger (haiku in 12 variations)

I’m a Messenger

1)

I’m a messenger
Not a one person army
Just one, of many

2)

Playing a small part
A foot soldier sharing art
From God’s army

3)

Please God—-remind me
Hate begets more hate
Teach me forgiveness

4)

Wisdom of patience
Strength of humble endurance
Grace is true power

5)

Letting the past go
All the things I cannot change
Time mends brokenness

6)

Life’s not a problem
Not a mistake or a curse
We’re gifted free choice

7)

Faith, Hope and Love—-and
The greatest of these is Love

That’s what we’re made of

8)

Made in God’s image
Jesus renewed innocence
Pathway to Eden

9)

Pure sacrificed Lamb
Unblemished and without sin
We’re rebirthed through Him

10)

God incarnated
Suffered temptations and death
He conquered all sin

11)

Faith is all we need
Smaller than a mustard seed
Trust in salvation

12)

Believe like a child
Regain what this world has lost
Purity of trust

*One of my favorite Bible chapters is 1 Corinthians 13:

I’m trying out this alternative way of presenting my series of “haiku in variations”. I used to present my “haiku in variations” in this numerically compartmentalized way, but I stopped because it takes a little more effort—but I think it highlights the essence of what a traditional haiku is meant to be…brief encapsulations. There’s something uniquely elegant about the brevity of a 3 line poem’s mini-containment of thought.

What do you think? Which style of presentation do you prefer? 🤔

  1. A well delivered message and the form is wonderful. God is constantly working on us.
Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them”.
    Blessings , my friend 🙏🏽✝️💖

  2. I’m not sure I can choose which is a better representation… I like both ways, with or without numbering. And… I really know nothing of poems, but yours are awesome! Love is the strongest 🙂
