Poem: Diamond in the Rough (haiku in 12 variations)

Diamond in the Rough

Make my heart braver
Immune to sorrow’s torture
Serving my Savior

Soothe me with your calm
Like a baby in your arms
Safe from waves of harm

Diamond in the rough
Make me unbreakably tough
Remind me of hope

Help me to measure
Shape me into a treasure
Shine my heart humble

Infinite patience
Oblivious to hatred
Freed from “the Matrix”

Innocent again
Unabandonded by false friends
Sheltered in Your Hands

Strengthened by life’s trials
Undisturbed by betrayals
Cleanse my wounds with salt

Holy Spirit’s song
Removes hurt with holy psalms
Removes stings with alms

Heal my night to day
Wash my resentments away
Polish what I say

Quiet ego’s claims
Release me from vanity
Break ignorance’s chains

Make me wiser, Lord
Mature my understanding
Raise my spirit’s sword

With validation
When silence feels deafening
Fill my cup with love.

  1. Powerful and beautiful set of haiku variations.

    A poetic masterpiece.

It sums up your deliverance from the New Age and the Matrix and your falling into Christ’s arms so well and so eloquently.

I love your cover photo of how the tear falling from one’s eye becomes a diamond 💎.

A diamond 💎 in the rough.

    1. Thank you, Christopher. I appreciate your sweet compliment. I grew up Christian, then became a Prodigal (New Ager) but the Truther movement brought me back to Christianity. Interesting how I knew about the Prodigal Son parable, but never realized I was living it.

I found the photo on Pexels through WP and it seemed to match my poem perfectly 🙂. I love when that happens.
